28,000 meters! Ningbo University of Technology students launch self-made balloon with a bear into the sky

On October 31st, a video of a toy bear flying tens of thousands of meters high went viral across the internet.

In the video, a plush little bear sets off from the University of Nottingham Ningbo (referred to as Ningnuo) located on the coast of the East China Sea, trekking through mountains and rivers, and arrives at the border between Fuxin, Liaoning and Tongliao, Inner Mongolia. After a series of preliminary preparations such as weighing, temperature detection, and equipment debugging, with a “hula” sound, the bear’s balloon rises with the wind and soars straight up. After crossing the rolling sea of clouds like waves, the earth, emitting a dreamy blue halo, slowly appears and is engraved into a stunning picture.

The creators of this flight test and video are Li Zhenghan and Wang Zechen from the Materials Forming and Control Engineering program at the University of Nottingham Ningbo Science and Technology, as well as their project team. We contacted and interviewed them as soon as possible to tell the story behind the “Little Bear Flying Apsara”.
